The Krugerrand is an investment coin that is minted in gold, since 2017 also in silver or platinum. In the German-speaking world, the spelling "Krügerrand" and the corresponding pronunciation is common.
The denominations of the gold coin are 50, 5, 2, 1, ½, ¼, 1⁄10, 1⁄20 or 1⁄50 troy ounce. The denomination of the silver coin is 1 troy ounce. The denomination of the platinum coin is 1 troy ounce. With a Krugerrand troy ounce of gold, the fine weight of gold is 31.1 grams, the Krugerrand gold coin weighs 33.93 grams due to the copper content.
The obverse of all Krugerrand coins features a portrait of Paul Kruger and the words SUID-AFRICA and SOUTH AFRICA. On the reverse is the national animal of South Africa, a springbok antelope, in divided writing is the indication of the year of issue on the left and right of it, in the upper part the image is framed by the lettering KRUGERRAND and below with FYNGOUD 1 OZ FINE GOLD or FYNSILWER 1 OZ FINE SILVER R1. Only in the case of the platinum version does the lettering differ with 1 OZ PLATINUM R10.
On July 3rd, 1967 the first 1 oz gold Krugerrand was minted by Nico Diedricks by the Rand Refinery based in Germiston and 40,000 coins were minted in normal plate and 10,000 in proof. In previous years, the price of gold had been frozen at $35/troy ounce by the United States. Gold was practically not traded at free market value and it was only from 1967 that gold was traded freely again.

After receipt of payment, the items are immediately assembled and packed on camera. Afterwards the dispatch takes place as insured package. We will send you a mail upon receipt of payment. Another mail will be sent to you upon shipment with the shipment number/tracking number. Please check that the shipment is sent directly to you.
Upon receipt of the shipment, check the integrity of the packaging. In case of discrepancies take photos and notify us. The shipment is insured, so you do not bear any risk of loss and theft.
